This Annual report presents the Federal Economic Competition Commission's (Cofece) main actions, figures, and results for 2024.
The document details the cases handled under the procedures (mergers, monopolistic practices, barriers to competition), enforcement actions (sanctions, investigations, resolutions), and competition advocacy activities (events, publications, institutional collaborations), as well as the economic impact of this work. It also includes advances in digital markets, sustainability, and education, highlighting transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
Cofece publishes the ninth edition of this proactive accountability effort, which seeks to inform the public about the most relevant work carried out during the previous year and the achievements of enforcement of the Federal Economic Competition Law.

In March, the Commission dealt with 120 matters, of which 76 correspond to mergers, 26 to proceedings for monopolistic practices and unlawful mergers, 5 to special proceedings, and 13 to opinions on bidding processes, concessions, and permits.
Complaints, investigations, and trial-like proceedings
- 3 complaints were analyzed, 1 of which was admitted in March, and 2 were rejected, so 1 remained pending at the end of the month.
- 19 investigations for monopolistic practices and unlawful mergers were followed up.
- 4 trial-like proceedings were followed up.
- 5 special procedures were followed up to determine the existence of essential facilities and barriers to competition
Mergers
- 76 mergers were monitored, of which 14 were notified during the period. Of these transactions, 23 were authorized, and 2 were closed, accordingly, 51 remained under analysis at the end of the month.1
- The amount of authorized transactions was $73,869.9 million pesos.
Amparo Trials
- During March, the Judicial Power resolved 10 amparo trials: 1 was granted, 2 were denied, and 7 were dismissed.2 At the end of the period, 334 trials are still in process, of which 320 correspond to economic competition matters.
